NFAA to Award Sectional Travel Scholarships in 2024
The NFAA, in partnership with the NFAA Foundation, will award $8,000 in travel scholarships to junior archers in 2024.
The NFAA, in partnership with the NFAA Foundation, is committed to fostering the growth and participation of junior archers in national-level competitions. To support this goal, we are thrilled to announce the awarding of $8,000 in travel scholarships for 2024. These scholarships are designed to empower and encourage young talent in archery. A boy and a girl from each NFAA Section will be chosen to receive a $500 travel scholarship, along with a complimentary junior entry fee. This significant opportunity is specifically aimed at enabling these junior archers to experience and compete in future NFAA or NFAA Foundation national events, thereby nurturing their skills and enthusiasm for the sport at the highest level.
Who is eligible to apply?
Junior archers who compete in an NFAA State Championship or NFAA Sectional Championship event in 2024 are eligible to apply. Applicants must be between the ages of 8 and 17 as of January 1, 2025. Professional archers are not eligible to apply. NFAA Membership is required.
How do you apply?
The application will be available on the NFAA website from March 1, 2024, through September 2, 2024. Applicants will be asked to provide a short essay (200-500 words) on what NFAA or NFAA Foundation national tournament(s) they would like to attend in 2025 and why.
When will the winners be announced?
Winners will be announced via email and on the NFAA website on November 1, 2024. Additional information will be published regarding the recipients in the 2024 Quarter 4 issue of Archery magazine.
What can the travel scholarship be used towards?
The following events are eligible for travel reimbursement and a free junior entry fee: Rushmore Rumble, The Vegas Shoot, NFAA Indoor National Championship, NFAA 1-Arrow Marked 3D National Championship (NFAA Portion), First Dakota Classic, NFAA Marked 3D National Championship (NFAA Portion), NFAA Outdoor National Field Championship, & Outdoor National Target Championship.
The travel scholarship is a stipend to cover any travel expenses incurred by the athlete. This may include travel, accommodations, or meals required to attend a future NFAA or NFAA Foundation event. A reimbursement form with specific details and per diem limits will be provided to the winners. Receipts will be required for reimbursement. Payment will be provided after the event's conclusion. Both the travel scholarship and the entry fee must be used at the same NFAA or NFAA Foundation event. If archers are 18 or older at the time of event registration, they will receive a discounted adult entry fee.
