Fort Lauderdale Archer Colton Walters Breaks Records, Claims National Title and Wins World Gold Medals

The Florida Archery Association is proud to announce that local archer Colton Walters, representing the Fort Lauderdale Archers club, delivered a historic performance at the combined NFAA National and IFAA World Field Championships held from July 24 through August 1, 2026. Facing top international and domestic competition, Walters claimed a national title, earned two world team gold medals, and set multiple national and world records.

At the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) Championship, Walters secured the NFAA National Title after setting unprecedented score records in both the Hunter and Animal rounds.

Carrying that momentum into the International Field Archery Association (IFAA) World Field Championship, Walters anchored two American victory efforts. Posting the highest point totals in his division, he led both the Champion of Nations team and the Bowhunter Style team to gold medal finishes.

In individual world competition, Walters earned the World Silver Medal, highlighted by a perfect score in the Animal Round and a newly established World Field Round score record.

"To deliver a perfect round under world-championship pressure while simultaneously leading team competition demonstrates extraordinary focus and dedication," said representatives of the Florida Archery Association. "Colton's accomplishments reflect the remarkable talent and strength within Florida’s archery community."

Walters’ achievements capped off a strong statewide showing, with multiple Florida athletes competing across all divisions during the eight-day international tournament.
