Sergio Pagni wins $53,000 grand prize and second Vegas Shoot

Italian man Sergio Pagni beat 22 other perfect 900s shooters plus a Lucky Dog to become The Vegas Shoot 2019 Champion on February 10 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, securing a $53,000 grand prize and his second championship title.

"I feel great. At the beginning of the week, I said I was confident in my shot and I was sure to make 900. When I look back and saw how many 900s were in the final with me, it was a very long, long journey to arrive in the end," said Pagni.

Pagni became the first Lucky Dog to ever win The Vegas Shoot when he claimed the title back in 2016 at the event's 50th anniversary.

"Winning as the Lucky Dog was a surprise, also because I won after the first end so nothing about shooting another one, I was sure to shoot some. Here I was sure it was impossible to win on the first end so I took my time and was sure to not miss. I didn't force the shot and I was confident with the 10 and a quickly and smooth shot," he added.

At this year's edition, he scored 900 points with 83Xs and then shot five rounds to secure the Compound Open Championship title in Las Vegas another time. Chance Beaubouef came second and Riku van Tonder in third. Over the three days of competition, 23 men in the Compound Open Championship division shot perfect 900s, establishing a new shoot off record. Compound Young Adult Connor Sears and Trevor Silverson, and Compound Senior Keith Trail also scored 900s. Both Trevor Silverson and Keith Trail won their division's titles.

Two Perfect Women

For the first time in The Vegas Shoot history, the Compound Women's Championship event had a shoot off between two 900s. That came after So Chaewon of Korea and Sara Lopez of Colombia became the 4th and 5th women to ever shoot perfect over the three days of competition. Sara claimed the Championship title by scoring 29 points to Chaewon's 28 in the first end.

"I only shot for one week before I came here. I came just to have fun, to train, to work on my technique and I'm just so happy. I always dreamed about this moment. I always dreamed about shooting a 900, about winning Vegas so I think this year will be awesome because it started the best way," said Sara.
