The 2014 Vegas Shoot Shatters Registration Record
With 5 days left to register, the 2014 Vegas Shoot has already shattered the previous year's record of 1,800 shooters by nearly 300 additional registrants. The 2014 event is on track to hit over 2,200 archers, representing over 35 different countries. The 2014 Vegas Shoot offers the World's largest indoor purse ever with a projected payout of $250,000 in cash and prizes.
Event organizers accredit much of the increase to new international participants and growth in the junior divisions. "We have really stepped up our marketing efforts in 2013 to grow our reach," exclaims Bruce Cull, event President. "Partnering with World Archery and hosting the World Cup Final has done an outstanding job of introducing our event to an international audience." The World Cup Final is held on Saturday night in the South Point Arena. Brittany Salonen, event-marketing manager, gives credit to Hollywood for the growth in the junior divisions. "As everyone in the archery business knows, we have gotten a lot of advertising help from Hollywood. Brave, the Hunger Games and CW's Arrow (just to name a few) have introduced the sport of archery to a younger generation. We are really starting to see the residual effect of these movies in our youth and young adult classes. Our Vegas junior divisions are already over 400 total archers, compared to less than 300 last year."
As 2014 marks the third year at the South Point Hotel & Casino, Cull is extremely grateful for the large venue. "South Point has given us the ability to grow and house 2,500 plus archers and thousands more spectators under one roof. We are continuing to work with them to increase our shooting space. Our goal is to hit 3,000 archers and a payout of $500,000 by our 50th anniversary" continues Cull. "South Point is one of very few locations in Vegas that allows an event of our size to eat, sleep, shoot and entertain all in one location."
The Vegas Shoot not only offers a World-class tournament, it hosts a 90-booth trade show featuring the top archery manufacturers and retailers from around the World. Over the course of the weekend, several manufacturers will hold informational seminars, giving attendees the opportunity to grow their skills and learn from their archery idols. "We want people to come and have a complete archery experience. We want them to stick around after they shoot," Cull announces. "There is no other tournament in the world that compares," exclaims Cull. "The Vegas Shoot is the'proving grounds' of archery; it truly determines the best of the best. If we can get people there one year, we know we can keep them coming back!"
