Memphis Hosts 1,000+ Archers for Exciting 2026 NFAA Indoor Nationals

The 2026 NFAA Indoor National Championships welcomed over 1,000 archers to Memphis, Tennessee, bringing together youth, amateur, collegiate, and professional competitors from across the United States and around the world. Attendees widely praised the venue and overall event setup, with many noting the facility as a welcome host location for the tournament. The event also introduced multiple new technology features designed to improve the experience for all participants, including streamlined processes such as self check-in and self scorecard validation.

The weekend kicked off with a fantastic turnout for the Meet the Pros event on Friday evening, where young archers had the opportunity to talk to, get autographs from, and take photos with their favorite professional archers. This was followed by a fun Pro-Am event, adding excitement and camaraderie to the start of the competition. Once the competition began, archers completed two rounds of 60 arrows over two days, with a maximum possible score of 600 with 120 X’s, all shot on the official NFAA blue and white 300-round target face.

Strong performances were on display throughout the weekend across all divisions, including several national-record achievements. Among them, Chloe Nelsen added to her growing list of records with an incredible 600 120X in the Young Adult Female Freestyle division, while Anna Li set a new Cub Female Barebow Recurve national record with an impressive 567 35X. Despite these remarkable accomplishments, some of the most thrilling moments came on Sunday afternoon, when multiple professional divisions required shoot-offs to determine the final podium positions.

The Professional Senior Male Freestyle division featured strong competition throughout the weekend. Lynn Hoch secured the championship with a perfect 600 120X, while a shoot-off between Randy Morocco, Grant Schleusner, and Michael Hulbert Sr. determined the remaining podium spots. Morocco claimed second place, followed by Schleusner in third and Hulbert in fourth.

The Professional Adult Female Freestyle division produced two exciting shoot-offs. Six competitors finished with 600 118X, forcing a shoot-off to determine third place, where Jamilee Moore emerged victorious after several ends of inside-out scoring. Tanja Gellenthien and Isabelle Geissbuhler each shot 600 120X, with Gellenthien ultimately claiming the championship and Geissbuhler finishing second.

The Professional Adult Male Freestyle division brought one of the afternoon’s most exciting moments, as 13 archers posted perfect 600 120X scores to force a large shoot-off. The field included seasoned professionals Robert Householder, Levi Reitsma, Gaius Carter, Bodie Turner, Kyle Douglas, Louis Price, and Braden Gellenthien, along with international standouts Mike Schloesser (Netherlands), Christopher Perkins (Canada), and Mathias Fullerton (Denmark). Rising collegiate talents Lawson Veit (Lindenwood University) and Isaac Sullivan (Union Commonwealth University), along with Dewey Hathaway, who celebrated his 19th birthday that day, rounded out the group. The final podium was decided after multiple rounds of inside-out scoring, with Douglas claiming the championship, Price finishing second, and Schloesser taking third. The victory in Memphis marks another major indoor-season podium for Douglas as he builds momentum heading into the season finale in Vegas.

Another highlight of the event was celebrating the achievements of collegiate archers. Seventy student-athletes competed across the Compound, Bowhunter, Recurve, and Barebow Recurve divisions, with each division winner receiving a $250 scholarship. These awards reflect the NFAA Foundation’s ongoing dedication to supporting the next generation of archers as they balance higher education with competitive achievement.

The move to Memphis proved to be a successful new chapter for the NFAA Indoor National Championships, bringing together archers of all ages and skill levels for a weekend of elite competition and camaraderie. With the Indoor Nationals complete, many of these competitors will now turn their focus to the next and final stop of the indoor season in just two weeks, the world-famous Vegas Shoot. The prestigious event brings the world’s best archers together in Las Vegas as the indoor season concludes on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
